Why do I need my Air Ducts Cleaned?

The air ducts on your home or business can easily become clogged with dust and debris or contaminated with mold,pests and vermin.Calling an experienced HVAC technician to clean your ducts before the damage gets out of hand is the best thing you can do for your wallet and your home.

3 Reasons to Have Your Air Ducts Cleaned

Having a technician come out and regularly clean your air duct system is key to getting the most effective and efficient use from your heating and air conditioning unit. With all the other household appliances and places that need cleaned, the air duct system is probably last on your to-do list. However, keeping up with your air duct cleaning can not only get you more use from your unit, but it also keeps the indoor air quality in your home clean.

1. Clean Air Ducts Means a Better Running HVAC System

Getting your air ducts cleaned on a regular basis will keep your HVAC system running more efficiently. Things like dust, bacteria and dirt make their way into the air ducts causing poor airflow and an overworked system. Even the slightest amount of dust particles in the air ducts can cause your HVAC unit to become clogged and run less efficiently. Having Ductsmen technicians come out and regularly clean your air ducts ensures that your unit not only runs efficiently but that its lifespan lasts longer than 5 minutes.

2. Clean Air Ducts Means a Longer Lifespan for Your HVAC System

The dust, dirt, and grime growing in your air ducts will spread to your HVAC system and cause the unit to overwork itself. The dust accumulating in the air ducts causes the HVAC system to work harder than normal to produce efficient heating and cooling results. When your AC unit is acting up you will spend more time and money on the maintenance the system will need to keep it running. The best way to avoid unnecessary maintenance and give your HVAC system a longer shelf life, is to have one of our trustworthy technicians routinely clean your air ducts.

3. Clean Air Ducts Means Quality Indoor Air

Most people don’t know how important clean air ducts are for breathing quality indoor air. The air ducts do for a home what lungs do for the body. They circulate air around your home and if dust, dirt, and grime have invaded your air ducts, the air you breathe is also contaminated with these allergens. According to the National Air Duct Cleaners Association, dirty air ducts can circulate contaminated air and allergens throughout a home or business up to seven times a day. Air ducts should be cleaned by an experienced professional with the proper tools. These specific tools are used to clean out the supply, intake, and return ducts throughout your home or business ensuring better quality indoor air.

The Full-Service Duct Cleaning

The Full-Service Duct Cleaning

Encompasses the entire forced-air system, from each register and return down the auxiliary duct lines to and including all the main duct lines in the ceiling of the basement that run directly off the HVAC unit using a combination of drawing and blowing of air at the same time. Once all the duct lines are cleaned, the air handling side of the furnace is cleaned to remove any loose dirt and debris from around the air conditioning coils, exterior of heat exchanger, blower compartment and the plenum, so the dirt and debris doesn’t blow back through the clean ductwork and to ensure the A/C compressor drain pan is not clogged. Before and after pictures are taken to verify the service quality.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Did you know that clothes dryer vents clogged with lint are a leading cause of household fires? 2,900 home clothes dryer fires are reported each year and cause an estimated 5 deaths, 100 injuries, and $35 million in property loss.
Vents collect direct, dander, dust and other contaminants each time you run your dryer. People often don’t recognize or ignore the signs of a clogged dryer vent, which can have disastrous results.
One call to COIT can help secure the health and safety of your home. Our trained technicians use the same exclusive HEPA-Aire™ vacuum and Aire-Sweep™ compressor system employed in our air duct cleaning service to clean the lint and debris from your dryer vents. The result: a home safer from fire, shorter dryer running times and lower energy bills.

Chimney Cleaning

We will clean your chimney from the inside of your home using the most advanced techniques and equipment.  Our high revolution, rotary chimney cleaning tool does a far superior job than the old standard chimney brushes.  The drill mounted, multiple bristle unit revolves around at 2000-3000 r.p.m. This insures the deepest clean available without damaging your unit. We will also use a high powered vacuum to control the dust. This along with our floor coverings will ensure no mess is left behind.

A competent chimney sweep technician will inspect the condition of the heating appliance and all its components for damage:
* The chimney cap or crown;
* The caulking around the flashing;
* The interior of the stainless-steel duct or flue tiling;
* Supports and connectors.
The technician will also check the condition of the pipe and “tee” connecting the appliance to the chimney, whether there is sufficient clearance for combustible materials, the operation of the damper and supply air duct, the quality of the firebricks, water infiltration, corrosion, cracks, perforations, bird’s nests, and more.
These periodic checks are essential to ensure the efficient and safe operation of your heating appliance.
